Michael Escott

Michael Escott believes that great art should be accessible, enjoyable, and capable of transforming everyday spaces. Originally from Tiltonsville, Ohio, a small town along the Ohio River, Michael spent much of his life balancing creativity with a successful career in engineering and manufacturing. After studying Physics at Penn State University, he worked for decades designing and developing industrial control systems that helped power manufacturing processes.

However, art was never far away. Michael painted as a hobby throughout his life, finding creative expression between work, family, and other responsibilities. In August 2024, he made the decision to devote himself to painting nearly full-time, allowing his lifelong passion to take center stage.

Michael creates original watercolor and acrylic paintings inspired by landscapes, rivers, cityscapes, and urban scenes. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of waterways and the character of everyday places, his work often reflects an impressionistic style that captures mood, light, and atmosphere rather than strict realism. He continually challenges himself to grow as an artist, especially through ongoing exploration of portraiture.

A pivotal moment in Michael's artistic journey came when Gallery 310 invited him to join their community shortly after meeting him. The encouragement, camaraderie, and support he found there helped strengthen his confidence and commitment as a painter.

Today, Michael's goal remains simple: to create artwork that is both beautiful and attainable. He believes original art has the power to brighten a room, spark conversation, and bring lasting enjoyment to those who live with it.

One of Michael's proudest accomplishments to date is his first solo exhibition at the Hoogland Center for the Arts, running from March through June 2026.
